Change Activity Details: At 05:01am UTC on 11-JUN-2013 Network Engineering will be working with one of our transport providers to migrate backbone circuits onto a new DWDM system within the HOU02 Data Center. During the migration there will be reduced network capacity transiting to/from the HOU02 Data Center.
Impact Statement: At no time during this maintenance do we anticipate isolation of the Data Center. While the maintenance window is set for 6 hours, we expect no downtime.
Affecting Server - Garfield
On Wednesday, February 22, 2012 between 12:01AM and 6:00AM CDT, our operations team will perform a migration of servers located in our Hou02 data center.
During this maintenance, our server Garfield will be gracefully shut down and moved to a newly configured rack.
While we've scheduled a six-hour maintenance window, we anticipate less than 30 minutes of downtime server. Our technicians have performed this maintenance several times in our other data centers and have established a process to minimize the outage period during the moves.

Change Activity Details: Members of the Network Engineering team will be performing a maintenance on the internal switch management network for all private rack environments. While this will not affect any customer environment traffic, it will affect the monitoring for each switch and send alert emails to the contact addresses associated with each customer account in the Softlayer portal. Since this alert is for the internal management ip address of the switch, it can be ignored for the length of the maintenance window.
Impact Statement: Offline alert emails will be sent to customers, but there is no actual traffic impact. This is just to make the customer aware of the situation and no action is needed on their part.

Change Activity Details: We are completing a round of code upgrades on our Internet Border Routers. We will be working on three of these during this maintenance window. Each router requires a reboot to load the new code. To ensure uninterrupted service we will reroute customer traffic around a router before we reboot it. However, we have seen from our previous code upgrades there is a possibility that rebooting/isolating one of these routers will causes another one of these particular routers to reboot unexpectedly. This behavior has been attributed to a bug that is corrected in the upgraded code.
Impact Statement: In the event that one of the 3 routers unexpectedly reboots; some customers may experience a brief period of packet loss and latency, to and from their server. This will be due to route convergence as traffic takes a different path while the router reboots, and then switches back to the original path after the router has come back online. This interval should be less then 5 minutes. However, most customers will not experience interruptions in service while we are performing this work.
