The purpose of this tutorial is to help you get started when you are transferring your domain from Register.com to FatCat Servers.
There are several things that must take place before you can begin to transfer your domain name.
This tutorial assumes that you already have a domain registered with Register.com, and we are going to start on their home page.
The first thing you must do is make sure the domain name is not locked or it will be prevented from transfer away from Register.com.
- Begin by clicking on the login link in the right hand corner. Scroll down, and enter your Register.com account username and password in the boxes. Now click on the Login button. You are now logged in to your Register.com account.
- Click on the domain for which you want to remove the registry lock. This takes you to the domain page. Scroll down. Now click the Disable Domain Lock link. This takes you to a confirmation page, and you need to click on the Continue button to confirm the change. You now see the confirm page, that the domain lock changes have been made.
The lock has now been removed from the domain name, so it can be transferred to FatCat Servers Web Hosting.
Next you should verify that your Contact Info is correct and up-to-date. The transfer request approval will be emailed to the administrative contact, and must have action for transfer to proceed.
And finally you should obtain the transfer authorization code. It is the authorization code that allows the registries to permit the transfer of your domain name. This code is needed by FatCat Servers to begin the transfer process.
Note: The transfer code may be called by a different name I.E. EPP Code, Key Code, Transfer Key, etc.
When finished, click the log out button.
You are now ready to transfer your domain, or contact support to initiate the domain transfer request.
This ends this tutorial. You now know how to unlock your domain at Register.com, so it can be transferred to FatCat Servers Web Hosting.
