The purpose of this tutorial is to help you get started when you are transferring your domain from dotster.com to FatCat Servers.

There are several things that must take place before you can begin to transfer your domain name.

This tutorial assumes that you already have a domain registered with dotster.com, and we are going to start on their home page.

The first thing you must do is make sure the domain name is not locked or it will be prevented from transfer away from dotster.com.

  1. Begin by clicking on the My Account link in the right hand corner. Enter your dotster.com account username and password in the boxes. Now click on the login button. You are now logged in to your dotster.com account.
  2. Click on the My Domains tab at the top of the page. This opens your Account Management Control Panel.
  3. Select the domain you wish to manage, by checking the box in front of the domain name. In the Step 2 box, there is a pull-down menu. Click on the arrow, and select Unlock These Domains from the list. Then click Go.

The lock has now been removed from the domain name, so it can be transferred to FatCat Servers Web Hosting.

Next you should verify that your Contact Info is correct and up-to-date. The transfer request approval will be emailed to the administrative contact, and must have action for transfer to proceed.

And finally you should obtain the transfer authorization code. It is the authorization code that allows the registries to permit the transfer of your domain name. This code is needed by FatCat Servers to begin the transfer process.

Note: The transfer code may be called by a different name I.E. EPP Code, Key Code, Transfer Key, etc.

When finished, click the log out button in the upper right corner.

You are now ready to transfer your domain, or contact support to initiate the domain transfer request.

This ends this tutorial. You now know how to unlock your domain at dotster.com, so it can be transferred to FatCat Servers Web Hosting.
