Firefox is a popular, free web browser that is managed by the Mozilla Corporation.
1) Before you can begin installing Firefox, you will need to open a different web browser already installed on your computer. This is usually Internet Explorer or Safari depending on your operating system.

4) Click the large download button.

8) Click Next.
Firefox will be installed to the location shown. Note that this cannot be edited if you chose standard in the last step. If you need to change the install location, go back and choose custom.
Leave this box selected if you want to make Firefox your default web browser.

9) Click Install.
The installation process can take a few minutes to complete.

10) Once done, click Finish.

Firefox will open, and the installation is complete. Now you can begin using the program.

If you have an older version of Firefox, you should upgrade as soon as possible since newer releases have security and bug fixes.
1) Go to Help.

2) And click Check for Updates.
If a new version exists, it will show up here.

3) Click this button.
Wait a few moments while Firefox is downloaded.

4) Once done, click Restart to install the new version.

A cookie is a piece of text that is stored on your computer by a web browser. Cookies can be used to store login info, preferences and shopping cart data. Many websites require cookies to be enabled before you can access them.
1) To see options to manage cookies, open the menu.

2) Go to Options.

3) And click Options.
4) Click the Privacy tab.

Uncheck this box to decline all cookies from all sites. This isn’t advisable since doing so will make many websites unusable. Third-party cookies are set from a different domain than the one shown in the address bar. Usually it is safe to uncheck this box unless the site you are visiting requires it.

These options let you choose when to delete cookies: when they expire as per the expiration date set by the server, everytime Firefox closes, or ask each time.

5) Click Show Cookies to view the list of cookies that are currently stored.

You can search for cookies and manually delete ones from sites you don’t recognize.
6) Click a cookie or site.

7) Then click Remove Cookie.
8) Click Close.

9) Click Exceptions.

This window lets you allow or block cookies from specific domains.

10) Type the address of a website.
11) Click Allow if you want to automatically accept all cookies from this domain.

Alternatively, you can choose Allow for Session which accepts all cookies from the specified domain until you close the browser.
12) Choose Block to decline all cookies from this site.

13) Click Close.
14) Click OK to close the options window.

That’s it! Now you know how to manage cookies in Mozilla Firefox.

The History in web browsers is a list of all websites you have visited. The Cache stores data so future requests to that data can be loaded faster. Both of these can become quite large with frequent use.
1) Click this orange button to expand the menu.

2) Go to History.

3) Click Show All History.
The web pages will be sorted by the date they were visited.

4) Double click a folder to open it.

5) Click a page and press the delete key to remove items from your history.

If you have a lot of pages, deleting history using this method can be tedious, so, let’s see how to delete our entire history.
6) Open the menu.

7) Go to History.

8) Click Clear Recent History.
9) In the window that appears, choose a time range to clear.

10) Select the items to delete: browsing and download history, cookies, cache, active logins, and preferences.

11) Once you click Clear Now, the deleted items cannot be recovered.
12) Now let’s view our history.

Everything that was here previously has been permanently deleted.

That’s it! Now you know how to manage your history and cache in Mozilla Firefox.

You can set Firefox to remember your passwords for sites you visit, however, you shouldn’t enable this if you are on a public computer.
1) Open the menu.

2) Go to Options.

3) Click Options.
4) Click the Security tab.

5) Check the box next to Remember passwords for sites.

6) Click Exceptions.
Firefox will not save passwords for any sites listed here. We’ll see how to add exceptions later in this video.

If you choose to use a master password, all sensitive information will be stored under a single password which you will be asked to enter once per session.

If you have no password set, you will need to create a new one by typing it here.

7) Click OK.

8) Click Saved Passwords.

Any passwords that have been saved will show up in the list.

9) Click OK.
10) When a password is saved, this icon will be displayed next to the address bar. Click it to view options.

11) Click to expand the menu.

Since passwords are remembered automatically, the only other option we have is to never remember passwords for this site. Selecting this option will add this site to the exceptions list we saw earlier.

In this demonstration, we’ll see how to manage privacy and security settings which include history, cookies, passwords, add-ons and more.
1) Open the menu.

2) Go to Options.

3) Click Options.
4) Go to the Privacy tab.

Here you can choose to have Firefox remember your browsing, download, and search and form history, and choose to accept or decline cookies from sites. We have covered these options in greater detail in previous videos in this series.

5) Click Security.
We have already covered passwords in the last tutorial, but here is where you can choose to have Firefox remember the passwords you use for sites.

Add-ons are plugins or extensions that can be used to modify the behavior of existing features or add new ones.
If this first box is checked, Firefox will warn you when sites try to install add-ons.

6) Click Exceptions.
Any websites listed here will automatically install add-ons without asking.

7) To add an exception, type the address of the website.

8) Then click Allow.
9) To remove a site, select it.

10) And click Remove Site.
The last two options block reported attack sites and web forgeries. It’s recommended you keep both of them selected.

That’s it! Now you know how to manage your privacy and security settings in Mozilla Firefox.

When you bookmark a page, the web address is stored in a file on your computer for future access.
In Firefox, you can choose to show the bookmarks toolbar in the menu as we see here.

1) To manage your bookmarks, open the menu.

2) Go to Bookmarks.

3) Click Show All Bookmarks.
Here are the three categories where bookmarks can be stored.

4) Right click to open the menu.
5) Click New Folder.

6) Type a Name and optionally a Description then click Add.

7) Double click a folder to view its contents.

Since we just created this folder, it’s empty, so let’s add a bookmark now.

8) On the page you want to bookmark, click this grey star.

Notice the star has now turned yellow indicating that this page has been bookmarked.

9) Now let’s return to our bookmarks manager.
When you bookmark a new page, it shows up under Unsorted Bookmarks.

10) Click and drag the bookmark to the folder where you want to move it.

11) Now click the folder.
Here is the bookmark we just moved.

12) Click the X to close this window.
Notice our folder we created in the bookmarks toolbar now shows up here.

And clicking on the folder brings up a list of all bookmarks we have stored in that folder.

That’s it! Now you know how to manage your bookmarks in Mozilla Firefox.

How to change the home page in Mozilla Firefox
The Home Page is the website that loads whenever you open Mozilla Firefox and can be changed to anything you want.

Show my windows and tabs from last time will load everything you had open when you last closed Firefox.
5) Type a web address to use for the home page.

6) Click OK.

7) Clicking this icon of a house will load the home page.

Some sites may try to open pop-ups, which are new browser windows that may be hidden under the current window or displayed on the top.
Generally, pop-ups are used for advertising, but some sites may use them to show information without disrupting the currently open page.
Whenever Mozilla Firefox blocks a pop-up window, a message like this one will appear.

1) Click Options.

In this menu, you can choose to allow pop-ups for this website, open the pop-up blocker options menu or never show this message when pop-ups are blocked.
Let’s see how to add a website manually.
2) Open the menu.

3) Go to Options.

4) Click Options.
5) Go to the Content tab.

If you want to allow all pop-up windows, deselect this box.

6) Click Exceptions.
7) Type the address of the web site for which you want to allow pop-ups and click Allow.

8) Click Close.

That’s it! Now you know how to manage your pop-up blocker in Mozilla Firefox.
